FAQ’s
- What are the signs of magnesium deficiency?
- Magnesium deficiency can be accompanied by a plethora of different symptoms. These include (but aren’t necessarily limited to): nausea, constipation, headaches, nighttime leg cramps, numbness or tingling in hands/legs, general body weakness, tremors, and heart palpitations (you can learn more here).
- Why is magnesium so important?
- Magnesium is essential for hundreds of biochemical reactions to take place within the body. Not only that. but magnesium can also help to support healthy blood sugar levels, promote heart health, promote bone health, improve pms symptoms, combat depression, reduce anxiety, improve sleep, and so much more! At it’s bare minimum- magnesium is an electrolyte (and we are always hearing how important those are, right?) (Read more about the great health benefits of magnesium here.)
- Why does the spray itch or burn on my skin?
- Homemade magnesium spray can cause an itchy or burning sensation on the skin for those who are magnesium deficient. Generally, the more that the spray burns or itches, the more magnesium deficient the person is. The burning and itching should decrease over time if the spray is being used regularly.
- How often and how much of the spray should I use?
- This spray should be used as often as necessary for the individual. I encourage you to begin by using it daily, 2-5 sprays at a time. If the symptoms of magnesium deficiency persist, then up the number of sprays and the frequency that it is applied. If the symptoms of magnesium deficiency go away, feel free to experiment with less sprays or spreading out how often the spray is applied.
- Where can I get magnesium flakes?
- I enjoy using these magnesium flakes. They can easily be bought on Amazon.
Tips
- Store the magnesium in a small spray bottle for easy use. I enjoy using these amber glass spray bottles.
- Spray the magnesium onto the same area of the skin every time. Over time, the skin will get used to the magnesium and the itchy or burning sensation that is common with magnesium will lessen.
- Use filtered water when making the magnesium spray. This will help to ensure that you have made a “clean” spray.
